Blue House Dinner Recap 9-12

I’ve fallen behind in posting about the important stuff (food). Over the winter break we had a bit of a slowdown in the approximately weekly “family dinners” my house started in the Fall. Now they are back in full swing. Here is the quick run down of eating Filip’s pet birds, Megan and Gal’s slow cooked meals, and my crepes. As usual, it was a delicious exploration of traditional and world cuisine (I should go into marketing!).

BHD #9 Mini Turkeys

Filip roasted us each a baby chicken back in mid December. We gobble-gobbled them up along with roasted potatoes and salad. After playing with the carcasses, we ate the mysterious pineapple which had been sitting in our kitchen for some time. I don’t remember, but this may have been a celebration of having finished our Algorithms exam.

BHD #10-11 Slow Cooked Delights

Unfortunately we didn’t manage to take pictures for either of these, so I can’t remember the exact order. In any case, both Megan and Gal took advantage of the slow cooker which Megan had gotten for Christmas. Megan made a meaty chili which had a lot of nice spices in it. Smothered in cheese, it warmed us right up. Gal made a traditional Israeli stew with big hunks of meat and hard boiled eggs. Not coincidentally, these meals both occurred during early January when we had a lot of snow around here.

BHD #12 Pesto Crepes

I’d been putting off my dinner for a bit too long, so Filip finally demanded some food tonight. I wanted to make something with beef and pesto similar to what I’d seen on a cooking show recently, and I figured it was about time that I dusted off my crepe pan. Crepes are a family specialty which we fill with just about anything. The mix of pesto, beef, and parmesan cheese was quite good. This time around we remembered the camera, so we have a few more pics.
